|UPDATE: NOPD QUICKLY TRACKS DOWN SUSPECTS AFTER ARMED ROBBERY ON DECATUR STREET
NEW ORLEANS – NOPD Eighth District Officers quickly tracked down and arrested two suspects early Wednesday morning after they robbed two men in the 2200 block of Decatur Street.
The victims told police that they were walking in the block around 3:00 a.m. when they observed a dark-colored SUV traveling up the one-way street. The vehicle stopped and two men exited the vehicle. One of the men shouted, “hey you.” When the victims turned around, they said they saw two armed suspects approach them at a light jog. The victims said one suspect demanded money and the other suspect placed his weapon on the face of one of the victims. The victims complied and the suspects fled the scene.
While one of the victims was canceling his credit cards, he was advised that a purchase was recently made at the McDonalds located on Franklin and Saint Claude Avenues. Police officers relocated to the restaurant and learned that the transaction was made by several black males in a dark colored SUV.
During the course of the investigation, detectives obtained a license plate of the vehicle. Officers located the suspected vehicle in the 3700 block of North Tonti Street and conducted a knock and talk check at the location. Detectives located 28-year-old Michael Joseph Toliver Jr. and 23-year-old Terrance Melvin Dandridge, who fit the description of the suspects.
Detectives conducted a show up of the suspects at which time they were identified by the victims as the perpetrators of the armed robbery.
The suspects were transported to Central Lock Up and booked with armed robbery.
