NOPD Searching for Suspect in Property Snatching on Tulane Avenue
NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD is seeking assistance in identifying and locating an individual sought as a suspect in a property snatching incident that occurred in the 2000 block of Tulane Avenue on February 25, 2018.
The victim told police that at about 11:45 p.m., he was walking northbound on Tulane Avenue with his nine-week-old pit bull puppy. When the victim was about to reach the intersection of Tulane Avenue and South Roman Street, he said, an unknown black male riding a dark colored bicycle stopped and offered to buy the vicitm’s dog. The victim refused and referred the subject to a local breeder. The subject then allegedly lifted his shirt and showed what the victim believed to be an outline of a gun in the subject’s waistband. The subject then reportedly took the dog and fled westbound on the bicycle on South Roman Street to Gravier Street, then in an unknown direction.
The suspect was described as a black male standing about 6’0” tall with chin-length dreadlocked hair, wearing a black t-shirt and black jeans. The suspect’s bicycle was described as a mountain bike style, either dark blue or black in color with black rims.
As investigation into the incident progressed, detectives searching the area obtained surveillance images of an individual believed to be the suspect.
