|NOPD MAKES THREE GUN ARRESTS ACROSS THE CITY WEDNESDAY NIGHT
NEW ORLEANS – Last night, members of the NOPD Special Operation Division arrested three men in connection with gun and drug charges while on proactive patrol across the city.
The arrest results are below.
Around 10:00 p.m.
Jocobia Johnson, 20, was arrested after a traffic stop in the 1900 block of North Broad Street. During the course of the investigation, officers found Johnson to be in possession of a loaded .9mm pistol, crack cocaine and heroin. Based on the evidence collected on the scene, Johnson was booked into Central Lock-Up and charged with Possession of a Firearm with Narcotics, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Heroin and outstanding Municipal warrants.
Around 10:45 p.m.
Alvin Sims, 24, was arrested in the 1200 block of Marais Street, after officers observed him placing a weapon into his waistband. Officers approached Sims, at which time a brief foot chase ensued. During the chase, Sims threw a loaded .40 caliber pistol to the ground. Sims was later apprehended without further incident. Through further investigation, officers learned the pistol was reported stolen from Jefferson Parish in 2014. Based on the evidence collected on the scene, Sims was booked into Central Lock-Up and charged with Illegal Carrying of a Concealed Weapon and Possession of a Stolen Firearm.
Around 11:30 p.m.
Joshua Johnson, 35, was arrested in the 8800 block of Downman Road, after a traffic stop. During the traffic investigation, officers found Johnson to be concealing a .40 caliber pistol in his waistband. Johnson, who is a convicted felon, is currently on parole on weapons charges. Based on the facts and evidence surrounding the investigation, Johnson was booked into Central Lock-Up and charged with Felon in Possession of a Firearm and Illegal Carrying of a Firearm.
