|NOPD MAKES FIVE GUN ARREST DURING FOURTH OF JULY WEEKEND IN FRENCH QUARTER
NEW ORLEANS – NOPD Eighth District officers arrested five suspects in connection with the illegal carrying of guns in the French Quarter over the Fourth of July weekend. The arrests, which were made by officers in both uniforms and plain clothes, were a result of strong proactive patrol by officers throughout the district.
The arrest results are below.
Friday, July 3, 2015:
Tyler Osborn, 23, was arrested for an Aggravated Assault in the 600 block of Loyola Avenue after officers learned he pointed a .380 caliber pistol at two people in a parking garage after an argument. Osburn was booked into Central Lock-Up and charged with Aggravated Assault.
George Marfo, 18, was arrested in the 100 block of Bourbon Street after plain clothes detectives observed him selling marijuana in the area. During the course of investigation, detectives learned Marfo was in possession of a .22 caliber pistol. Marfo was booked into Central Lock-Up and charged with Illegal Carrying of a Concealed Firearm, Illegal Carrying of a Firearm while in Possession of Narcotics and Possession with the intent to Distribute Marijuana.
Saturday, July 4, 2015:
Resham Norris, 17, and Reanel Jones, 19, were both arrested in the 600 block of Bourbon Street after detectives observed them carrying what appeared to be guns underneath their clothing. When officers approached the pair, they learned both suspects were carrying .9mm pistols in their pants. The pair was apprehended and transported to Central Lock-Up where they were booked with Illegal Carrying of Weapons.
Xavier Miller-Counts, 21, was arrested in the 200 block of Bourbon Street after detectives learned he was concealing a weapon in his waistband. During the course of the investigation, detectives learned Miller-Counts would conceal a .22 caliber pistol inside of bar on Bourbon Street. He was later apprehended without incident and booked with Illegal Carrying of a Firearm.
