Police Organizations Training
NEW ORLEANS – Thirty-five NOPD officers throughout the department will graduate from Leadership in Police Organizations (LPO) training during a ceremony tomorrow, June 15, 2018 at 11 a.m. at the NOPD Training Academy.
The LPO program is designed to provide officers with the skills necessary to become successful leaders at every level of the department. Developed by the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) the intensive program centers on the systematic development of leaders at all levels of an organization and embraces the concept of “every officer a leader.”
"This type of leadership training is crucial for the future of the New Orleans Police Department as we continue to move toward a more transparent and modernized police force," said NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison.
Under the direction of NOPD Education and Training Commander Christopher Goodly, officers underwent three weeks’ of training. This is the eleventh LPO class completed since the NOPD started providing the training in 2012. To date, NOPD has trained more than 300 officers in the LPO program.
