NOPD Arrest Two Suspects on Illegal Tire Dumping, Possession of Stolen Property Charges in the Seventh District

NEW ORLEANS – The NOPD arrested Bryant Ballard (DOB: 10-27-1961) and Leonard Patterson (DOB: 12-14-1973) Yesterday, February 3, 2018, for Illegal Tire Dumping, and Illegal Possession of a Stolen U-Haul Truck during a traffic stop that was initiated in the 6000 block of Hayne Boulevard.

At about 12:46 p.m., Seventh District officers received a call of subjects in a U-Haul truck illegally dumping tires near Interstate 10 and Michoud Boulevard. A short time later, officers located the U-Haul truck in the 6000 block of Hayne Boulevard and initiated a traffic stop. Officer learned the U-Haul truck was reported stolen on January 21, 2018, under NOPD item number A-25163-18. Upon further investigation of the U-Haul truck, detectives located evidence that confirmed the two subjects were in fact disposing of tires illegally.

Ballard also had an outstanding arrest warrant for several previous Illegal Tire Dumping incidents, issued by the State of Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality. The warrant was issued as a joint investigation involving the DEQ, Louisiana Wildlife & Fisheries and NOPD.

Ballard and Patterson were placed under arrest and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center.

The Seventh District Investigation Unit, along with the State of Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality investigation into illegal dumping of tires continues and additional arrests are expected.
