Communication from Uber – Here for the long haul

Earlier today, Texas officially joined the list of 42 other states that have embraced ridesharing by implementing consistent, modern regulations at the statewide level. As a result, Texas will have the same rules for ridesharing across the state—mandatory safety screenings and driving history checks for all drivers, consistent requirements from city to city, and commitments to expand accessibility for riders with disabilities.

Serving and celebrating cities is at the very core of our company’s mission, and the only way to do that is to make sure we’re constantly improving the Uber experience for riders and drivers. Our Uber Texas team now has over 150 employees, and we all have the same goal: making sure Uber works for our fellow Texans. Whether it’s access to a reliable ride in almost 20 cities, dinner delivered to your door with UberEATS, or the recent launch of Uber Freight, we couldn’t be more excited to continue investing in Texas.

We’d like to thank Governor Abbott, Representative Chris Paddie, Senator Charles Schwertner, and a bipartisan group of legislators from across Texas for leading the charge in support of a modern, statewide framework for ridesharing. Due to their efforts and the sustained support for ridesharing from drivers and riders across the state, Uber is here to stay in Texas!

Stay tuned for details about upcoming city launches and more exciting updates in the months to come.
