NOPD ARRESTS SUSPECT IN DOUBLE STABBING AND ARMED ROBBERY

04/09/2015

Swift arrest made with assistance from French Quarter Task Force Detail
NEW ORLEANS—The NOPD has arrested 26-year-old Jerico Miller in connection with a double stabbing and armed robbery in the French Quarter. The incident happened on Wednesday, April 8, 2015.
Shortly before 12:00 a.m., Miller stabbed a 36-year-old male victim twice in the back and once on the right bicep in the 1000 Block of Decatur Street. Miller then fled on foot to the 600 block of Saint Phillip Street where he robbed a 36-year-old male victim at knife point. As a result, Miller took $20 from the victim and ran off toward Royal Street. While in the 900 block of Royal Street, Miller stabbed a 43-year-old man in the back.
NOPD officers quickly arrived on scene where witnesses pointed Miller out to police. Detective Leonard Bendy, who was on the scene and working in the area as part of the French Quarter Task Force Detail, approached Miller and ordered him to drop the knife. Miller complied with the officer’s command and supporting Eighth District Officers Doug Butler and Mike MurHammer then handcuffed Miller.
Miller was booked with two counts of Aggravated Battery and one count of Armed Robbery. Later, Miller confessed to all three crimes. Miller said “He thought someone was out to get him.”
Officers recovered the knife and the stolen $20.00 bill.
Both stabbing victims were transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Eighth District Detective Steve Nolan is in charge of the investigation.
